what is the little notch/segment for just where the 2nd, (b) string pass on the bridge of my acoustic guitar ?
(i'm very new to guitar btw),
and just notice that it was slightly off key to the rest of the strings (it's tuned properly)
it's the 2nd (the B) string i noticed there is a small notch out of the bridge/saddle
"The steel string guitar has intonation problems between the plain 2nd and the wound 3rd strings.
A. The thick plain steel 2nd string [the B string] tends to go sharp more than the 1st and the 3rd.
B. The thin wound 3rd string only needs slightly more compensation than the first.
C. If the 1st and 6th strings read very close to true then a compensated saddle will help resolve the intonation conflict between the 2nd and 3rd strings. "

If your guitar is tuned properly and adjusted properly for correct intonation you should hear no off-key notes. It this is a problem, you should probably take it to a luthier or guitar pro at a guitar shop.
