Martin D15m Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar $1149 The Martin D15M acoustic guitar looks like it came right out of the history books, and delivers a sound for the ages. In its 175-year history, Martin has set more guitar design trends than can be counted. The company still embraces design techniques introduced many years ago to create their guitars' timeless tone. Built on a dreadnought platform, the Martin D15M guitar boasts 14 open frets for a unique design and great range of tone. The top, back, and sides are genuine solid mahogany, offering strong guitar tone, with crisp, clear subtleties in each note's definition. One of mahogany's finest qualities is its density. Although it's not the hardest tonewood, it is free of air pockets and other deformities. The vintage sound produced by the Martin D15M acoustic guitar is reminiscent of the Style 15 Martin guitars made popular during the 1940s. The Martin guitar is equipped with a mortise and tennon neck joint, offering the best wood binding practice ever conceived. Often used for shipbuilding, the process fuses 2 pieces of wood into a single, sturdy unit that stands up to the elements time and time again. The results are evident with the strength in tone and power in projection that you hear with each strum of this Martin acoustic guitar. The Martin guitar's solid mahogany neck further complements the crisp, defined acoustic sound of this dreadnought. The bridge and fingerboard are solid East Indian rosewood, adding smooth sustain to the mix. The 14 open frets, 1-11/16" nut width, 2-1/8" bridge string spacing, and 16" radius add comfort for your intricate fingerboard movements. Other appointments include a single-ring rosette, bone nut, solid/square taper headstock, solid East Indian rosewood headplate, diamonds and square fingerboard inlay, belly-style bridge, nickel open-geared tuning machines with butterbean knobs, and a solid black ebony bridge and end pins. Dressed in a soft satin finish and featuring a Delmar tortoise color pickguard, the Martin D15M guitar glows with classic vintage looks and sound. Includes a Martin 345 hardshell guitar case.Model: D-15MConstruction: Mortise/Tenon neck jointBody size: D-14 fretTop: solid genuine mahoganyRosette: single ringTop bracing pattern: A-frame ''X''Top braces: solid sitka spruce 5/16''Back and sides: solid genuine mahoganyNeck: solid genuine mahoganyNeck shape: modified low ovalNut material: boneHeadstock: solid/square taperHeadplate: solid East Indian rosewoodFingerboard material: solid East Indian rosewoodScale length: 25.4''Number of frets clear: 14Number of frets total: 20Fingerboard width at nut: 1-11/16''Fingerboard width at 12th fret: 2-1/8''Fingerboard position inlays: diamonds & squares - short patternFinish: satinBridge material: solid East Indian rosewoodBridge style: bellyBridge string spacing: 2-1/8''Saddle: 16'' radius/compensated/boneTuning machines: nickel open-geared with butterbean knobsRecommended strings: Martin Studio Performance Phosphor Bronze Medium Gauge (MSP4200)Bridge & e |

information on a unknown guitar?
my girlfriends mom has a very old acoustic guitar that plays, sounds, and over all is the nicest and smoothest guitar ive everplayed its in mint condition and puts to shame most of the $3000 guitars ive played at guitar center even with the rusty 6-year old strings on it. however ive never heard of the name TORENO on a guitar and cant find it anywhere on the internet does anyone know the worth and/or any history of these guitars?! (i hope these arnt well known and that im not just stupid)
i am positive it is toreno. i know that there are guitars that are named torino thats whats throwing my searches off
Hi, do you mean TORINO? cos if you spelled it wrong that's probably why you're not having any luck with your net search, D'oh!!
A friend of mine had an old guitar that he thought was the best he'd ever played and he told me that they get better over the years. I don't know if it's a myth but he reckons it's because the wood dries out and matures. Could also be that it was made by hand by a skilled craftsman in a way that is no longer used. Some woods are now near extinction and are no longer available too. The quality of the wood is incredibly vital to the sound.
An example is the best antique Stradivarius violins, which are still used today. Researchers have still not been able to nail down exactly what makes them superior but the wood and the craftsmanship are vital factors.
I think that you would have to have it looked at by an expert in the area of old and antique instruments to get a genuine idea of what it's worth.
