What acoustic guitar should I get if I plan on playing R&B/neo-soul music?
I am looking to start learning to play the acoustic guitar this week. The main reason for this is that I sing R&B/neo-soul inspired music (example: Maxwell, Babyface, Musiq Soulchild, Boyz II Men). Seeing that I am aiming to sing while using the guitar as an accompanying instrument, I would like for the guitar not to overpower my voice, rather be somewhat mellow (maybe a guitar with nylon strings is what I need?). So can any of you tell me what acoustic guitar would best suit my needs?
I don't want to spend over $250 for my first guitar and am willing to look at value packs that include the instructional DVD. I would also appreciate it if the guitar is easy to find at a store such as the guitar center (Yamaha, Fender, Ibanez, etc.)

First off, please don't buy a nylon string guitar for what purpose you are seeking. Buy a steel string acoustic and if you can swing it buy an electric/acoustic. These can be had for under $300 in some fairly decent packages if you are just starting out. Epiphone makes some nice packages as well as Ibanez, Washburn and Fender. Go to a guitar Center near you and try a few out and find one that fits you the best. Look for true harmonics, low action and good tone. The salesman can help you with this. Then when you find one you like check out American musical supply online. You can even make payments to them and may be able to afford a slightly better instrument. remember, just don't start out on junk because you will only get frustrated and quit and it will become a dusty bookend.
