What are some good left-handed acoustic guitars for beginners?
If you're truly just starting out, I'd suggest you learn to play right handed (left hand on frets and right hand strumming or picking). It's not a prejudice thing against left-handed people (my wife is a leftie), but it's just easier to learn that way because all the instruction materials are based that way. If you want to go left-handed, that's fine too though. Most guitar makers offer the same basic models in left-handed versions although they may not all be stocked in a music store, so your selection will be more limited. Good beginner guitars are:
Takamine (Jasmine is their entry model & is a very good guitar for the price)
Art & Lutherie (made by Godin in Canada and very good guitars for the price if you can fine one - Guitar Center doesn't sell them).
Ibanez, but make sure you play it first because they have some setup issues sometimes.
Ovation if you don't mind that the back is a fiberglass bowl instead of wood (they play nice and sound good plugged in).
You can get any of these under $300 if you shop around. If you're looking cheap but good, then an acoustic Takamine Jasmine is around $129 at Guitar Center (no electronics). I wouldn't go cheaper than that unless you really want "cheap".
