D string on acoustic guitar unwound while playing?
I was playing on my acoustic-electric Takamine with it capoed on the first fret and all of a sudden, the D string unwound at the bottom near the bridge. It didn't break at all, but I figured with such a thin wire, that I shouldn't attempt to tighten it back up and play it. I have Elixir Medium Nanoweb Acoustic Guitar strings on it and they've only been on there for a little over two months. I've used Polyweb in the past, have never had any problems with them and only replaced them every year. Has this ever happened to anyone and know why it happens?
First, get Martin strings for the Takamine guitar. You do not have to spend $20 on Elixir string.
The D unwounded because it was defective and after 2 months, you should change your string now.
Get d'addario or Martin or even GHS... They are less expensive and the quality of your guitar will still come through with these strings.
