What kind of heavy guitar strings should I use?
Ive been learning a lot of bullet for my valentine songs and theyre all in drop c tuning. i heard to make it sound "right" you need heavier strings. someone told me acoustic strings on my electric would work but arent most acoustic strings gold? where can i find heavy a$$ strings that are silver and have a good sound in drop c tuning?

Acoustic strings aren't gold, and while theoretically they *might* work, I certainly wouldn't use them!
The simple rule of thumb is that heavier strings = better tone, better sustain, stay in tune better when you tune them down, but you will have to readjust (ie setup and intonate) your guitar when you move to heavier strings, and there is always an upper limit on how heavy the strings can/should be.
Basically what I'm saying is that some guitars may need to be modified to take much larger strings, and some can't take the heaviest gauges of strings at all.
As far as "Drop C" tuning. What the other answerer was *trying* to say is that there is a "real" drop tuning and "slang" drop tuning used by the latest batch of detuned rock/metal players.
"True" drop tuning is when you *only* drop your lowest string. For instance, Drop D means
EADGBE -> DADGBE *only the lowest string is dropped
And the correct Drop C tuning would be
EADGBE -> CADGBE
However, when most people use the term "drop" anymore they mean that you tune to Drop D then Drop all strings until the bottom string matches the pitch. Let me explain.
Standard -> Drop D -> "Drop C"
EADGBE -> DADGBE -> CGCFAD
Technically you can tune 9's to Drop C... but you'll need to play gently, as they'll go out of tune *very* easily. I certainly wouldn't use 9's, but I have seen pro rigs that use 'em.... blech.... I don't have a guitar tech following me around to retune the guitar between songs. =)
Personally, I would use 11's or higher. I play 11's right now and they feel kinda loose at Drop D down 1/2 step (What some might call Drop C#.... losers)... but I could see dropping them another half step and them working out pretty well.
Once again, you will definitely need to make sure your guitar is properly set up for this tuning and gauge of strings, both so it has correct action and so it is intonated - that is, it stays in tune with itself all the way up the neck.
Oh yeah, I use Elixirs. I hate changing strings, and between using Elixirs, washing my hands as much as possible before playing, and using a string lubricant (GHS Fast fret, love it) my strings last for months. *grin*
