Suggestions on self-taught acoustic guitar?
Would you suggest self-taught acoustic guitar?
I don't want to ask my parents for too much, by asking them if I could have guitar lessons. i'm already taking private tennis lessons, and they cost a lot. we could definitely afford it, but i don't want to ask them for so much considering how much they are already spending on me. i was wondering if self-taught guitar would be the way to go??? is there any learner dvds or books you would suggest? anything you could tell me about reading guitar music, and how long it would take to play simple songs. i don't want to be a big guitarist or be in a band, i just want to learn how to play songs like taylor swift's. thanks everyone
also, Is tablature easy to read? what exactly is it? and what is a fret exactly? thanks a bunch! i really, really appreciate your help! you have no idea.:)
Hi! Im a self taught guitarist, and I learned through Guitar Pro.
You can download the trial, and later get a key-gen for it, and hack it. xD it basically reads music for you, you just need to know how to read tabs. you can download guitar pro tabs on Ultimate-guitar.com
Um. So a fret is the place that you hold down. the wooden space in between the metal bars.... (well, the fret frets are the metal bars, but you dont hold those down) so when you hear "hold down fret 5 on the A string", you hold down the 5th empty space, that has a little dot on it, on the second thickest string.....
Tabs are VERY easy to read.
There are six lines for the six strings on your guitar...
Low E at the bottom (thickest string), high e at the top (thinnest string)
e
b
g
d
a ----- 5 -----
E
The numbers on the lines represent the frets.
So like the 5th fret that i was talking about....
Have fun!
Definitely get Guitar Pro!
hit me up if you need help!
Ps: youtube has LOTS of "how to play _________ on guitar" tutorials!
