Gibson Jackson Browne Model A Acoustic-Electric Guitar $5999 The Gibson Acoustic-Electric Jackson Browne Model is a true collaboration between the artist and the guitar maker and is inspired by Gibson's fabulous Jumbo body design of the 1930's.Jackson worked with Gibson Montana for 5 years perfecting this "round shoulder" Jumbo. He desired to create for upcoming generations of musicians the best acoustic guitar available made by Gibson with no modern "compromise" or shortcuts in construction, design, and features. This guitar would deliver the most natural and magical "tone quality" & superior live performance capability anywhere on this planet. The Gibson Jackson Browne Model design is based on the Gibson acoustic guitars Jackson has been performing with for over a decade that have left his audiences in awe of his natural acoustic tone on the big stage. Its internal acoustic-electric pickup and preamp system from Trance Audio is handmade and offers unparalleled reproduction of the guitar sound when plugged in and amplified. The Trance Audio Amulet:True Stereo Guitar Pickup SystemThe Amulet is a true-stereo acoustic guitar pickup and preamplifier system designed for the professional or semi-professional musician who is not satisfied with traditional saddle or magnetic pickups. The Amulet system utilizes two of Trance Audio's Acoustic Lens T3 transducers which are mounted to the soundboard on the inside of the guitar. The Acoustic Lens accurately reproduces the warm, woody textures generated by the guitar's soundboard. Alternative pickup arrangements are also supported - the Amulet can be configured to support magnetic pickups or other transducers. An internal stereo preamp boosts the signal at the guitar and outputs a low impedance signal, allowing long cable runs without loss of fidelity. The compact control unit at the other end of the cable presents a stereo or mono signal to your mixer or amplifier. A high quality, user- selectable low cut filter is included to concentrate and focus the low end power of the Acoustic Lens for smaller speaker systems and amplifiers. The carefully engineered reponse eliminates unwanted low frequencies without removing any of the low end power of your guitar, even on instruments that are tuned far below standard pitch.Trance Audio Lens PickupThe Acoustic Lens represents the state-of-the-art in pickups for the acoustic guitar. Its unique Triaxial Transducer Technology (T3) allows it to sense vibration in all three physical planes (horizontal, vertical and lateral), and sums them in stereo to produce an incredibly accurate "sonic picture" of the Jackson Browne Model A's soundboard. This ultra-sensitive transducer excels at reproducing the warm, woody character of the guitar, coupled with the essential sounds of the body and neck, which most saddle tranducers simply ignore. The Acoustic Lens has been favorably compared to a high-quality microphone, but without all the hassles. You get the same great sound time after time while being free to move about the stage or studio. The A |

Gibson Hummingbird Pro Acoustic-Electric Guitar $2099.99 A true legend of acoustic instruments, the Gibson Hummingbird Pro acoustic-electric guitar was first introduced in 1960 as Gibson's earliest square-shoulder dreadnought guitar. Superb for all styles of playing, with a capacity for rich, first-position folk chords and intricate solo playing, the Gibson Hummingbird quickly became an iconic acoustic line, and a favorite among legends like Gram Parsons and Keith Richards. The Hummingbird has been one of Gibson Acoustic's most enduring guitar line.Body tonewoods (back, sides and top) The body design of the Gibson Hummingbird Pro acoustic electric guitar is known as a square shoulder dreadnought. The top is made from Sitka spruce, while the back and sides are constructed from mahogany, giving the Hummingbird True Vintage a perfectly balanced midrange tone, with unbiased rich lows and clear treble registers. Selecting the right wood, and the formula to dry it out, are two of the most central procedures to Gibson's guitar-building process.Rosewood fingerboard with traditional binding and split parallelogram inlays The resilience of rosewood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The Gibson Hummingbird Pro guitar's split parallelogram inlays are made of genuine mother of pearl, and are inserted into the fingerboard using a process that eliminates gaps and doesn't require the use of fillers. The fingerboard also sports traditional binding over the fret ends, which was a staple feature of many classic Gibson acoustic guitars for many years.Bracing Every acoustic electric guitar made by Gibson features hand-scalloped, radiused top bracing inside the body, a feature normally found only in limited run, handmade guitars. By scalloping each brace by hand, the natural sound of the acoustic guitar is focused more toward the center of the body, enhancing the guitar's sound projection. Gibson Acoustic's Hummingbird Pro guitar sports a single "X" bracing pattern similar to the design inside vintage Gibson J-30s. This traditional pattern delivers a balanced midrange tone, with unbiased lows and rich, clear highs, producing a warm tone that has been a favorite among artists and players alike since the original Gibson Hummingbird guitars introduced in 1960.L.R. Baggs Element ES acoustic pickup system Gibson Acoustic's Hummingbird Pro comes equipped with the Element ES Active acoustic pickup system from L.R. Baggs, which features a low-profile undersaddle elementor transducerthat's proven more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Combined with an onboard preamp with an unobtrusive and volume control mounted just inside the soundhole, the Element ES delivers performance not previously attainable from an undersaddle pickup. Its sleek and effective design removes unnecessary internal components to enhance the coupling between the pickup and the guitar, and improve the sensitivity of the transducer for a robust, lively, and natur |

Yamaha Ntx1200r Acoustic-Electric Classical Guitar Natural $999.99 Yamaha's NTX1200R is one handsome acoustic guitar designed to offer a feel and playability closer to that of a steel-stringed acoustic. This professional-level instrument is the perfect choice for adding the warmth of nylon-string acoustic tone to your music. The versatile, contemporary styled NTX line is designed with thinner bodies, narrower necks, 14th fret neck joints, and cutaway designs to provide greater comfort and playability for today's steel-string acoustic and electric players. This Yamaha guitar is perfect for adding nylon string tone to a wide range of musical styles from Latin to Jazz, Pop to Rock. Built on the thinline classical platform, Yamaha's NTX1200R acoustic-electric classical guitar features a cutaway, for comfort when playing in the higher register fret positions. This NTX starts with a solid Sitka spruce top, for warm, balanced tone. The neck features African mahogany, while the back and sides are solid rosewood, giving clear, pronounced tone, able to rise over and through the rest of the band. Rosewood is a tropical hardwood that has long been the material of choice for acoustic guitar sides and backs. Harder and heavier than maple, it provides firm support for the guitar's resonating top and delivers rich, well-balanced overtones. Its warm quality is perfect for nylon string tone. It also has a good balance of fundamental overtones for high register soloing. The Yamaha NTX1200R also features the A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise control of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years. In NX Series guitars, this treatment results in a sound close to that of a vintage guitar that has been played for years. The NTX1200R acoustic-electric guitar produces a sharper tone while simultaneously controlling dissonance in the high range. Instruments that have undergone this process have received high marks from a great number of musicians. Their evaluations are nearly identical to those for guitars that have been played for years, and their comments often include terms such as "well settled," "mature," "warm," "excellent resonance," and "clear."Yamaha's ART (Acoustic Resonance Transducer) pickup system is purpose designed to offer the most natural, dynamic and expressive electro-acoustic sound on the market. Proprietary multi-layer contact sensors perfectly combine ultra-wide dynamic range with outstanding feedback rejection for the most accurate and natural performance sound. The NTX1200R uses a 2-way system with contact pickups mounted on the treble and bass sides of the guitar bridge. To reduce unwanted feedback caused by vibration the NX Series contact pickup utilizes an additional multilayer damper to ensure the tone is captured in its purest form. C |

The end result is a beautifully crafted acoustic-electric guitar that is perfect for students and professionals alike. The look is sweet and the playing experience is pure inspiration. The TF740FS OM guitar starts with a select cedar top, presenting balanced tone in a light appearance. The solid mahogany back and sides offer bold projection, with plenty of dynamic range. The rugged ebony fingerboard adds crisp sustain, while the compensated bridge and gold tuners keep the instrument's tuning precise. Other appointments include an abalone rosette, dot inlays, asymmetrical neck, and a gloss natural finish. At the heart of the Takamine fingerstyle guitar is an impressive and intuitive electronics system that allows you to amplify your sound quickly and easily. Takamine's Palathetic pickup offers superior sound balance, high separation, and clear, natural sound. Takamine owes much to the unique design of this device. With six individually shielded piezo-electric transducers—one for each string—the unit is secured beneath the bridge saddle. This unique design allows the pickup to be isolated from the vibration of the body, and enables each transducer to pick up the vibration of the string directly through the bridge saddle, which limits potential feedback, even in a heavy-volume environment. The CoolTube on-board tube preamp features bass and treble tone controls, semi-parametric midrange, a second-source input and blend control, and a chromatic tuner. |

Adding electronics to an acoustic guitar?
Hi, I'm seriously considering buying a Fender CD-100, but it has no electronics. I need the electronics. So I was wondering if it is dangerous or less than desirable to have someone cut a hole and add a pick up or transducer.
Also, I have a Martin pickup that you place in the soundhole, but I hear from many that it does not accurately pick up the full sound.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
sorry, it's a Dean Markley pickup, not a Martin
The Martin pickup is most likely a "magnetic" pickup...similar in operation to the ones on electric guitars. It will work, but won't capture the subtle sounds that make your guitar sound acoustic. There are transducer pickups that can be non-invasively mounted in a guitar. The cable runs out the tail of the guitar through a special plug that doubles as a strap peg. These pickups will more accurately capture the acoustic sound. So you don't have to cut holes in the guitar to electrify it.
Having said all that, Fender CD-100 is a cheap guitar and isn't going to have the greatest sound to begin with. The kind of pickups I mentioned are expensive. It would be more cost effective for you to purchase a guitar with the electronics already on board. If the Fender is all you can afford, use the Martin pickup. It'll work okay until you can afford a better guitar.
