Normandy Chrome Archtop Guitar with Bigsby Vibrato Tailpiece. $2549 From the classic archtop curves of the body, to the vintage Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, to the distinctive "rivets" front and back, there is simply no other guitar like the chrome Normandy Archtop guitar.Normandy's rosewood-on-maple neck id shaped close to what you would find on an old-school jazz guitarnot too fat not too thin. The resonant, chromed aircraft-grade aluminum body produces smooth, warm tones that ring true and long. Sustain is increased significantly when compared to that of a conventional wooden guitar body. Normandy "old school" humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets are overwound to 12K ohms for higher output, powerful midrange and driving tone. This is a deceptively solid piece of instrument. You may be able to snap the neck, but the body will stand up to the most aggressive punk-inspired outbursts. The Normandy archtop guitar weighs 8.6 lb. which is roughly the same (or less) than most other electric guitars. I maintains perfect balance when on a strap and is so comfortable that you'll play longer and better. The sound, the look, the feel, the durability and all the extra care taken to perfect this one-of-a-kind guitar, combined with state-of-the-art manufacturing processes equal a guitar that you would expect to cost thousands more than it does. Normandy guitars are quality made one at a time and are built to stand the test of time from one gig to the next. |

Norm&Y Rat Rod Powdercoat Archtop Guitar W/ Bigsby Vibrato Tailpiece $1999 From the classic archtop curves of the body, to the vintage Bigsby vibrato tailpiece, to the distinctive "rivets" front and back, there is simply no other guitar like it. Normandy Guitars are quality made one at a time and are built to stand the test of time from one gig to the next.RAT ROD - the inspiration for this color comes from 'Rat Rods,' hot rod cars designed to embellish the features of the original rods of the 1940s and 1950s. Back then, owners preferred to spend money on engine performance rather than fancy paint, so most of their machines were painted primer black or gray. This underground look translates well to our instruments, and the super flat texture looks really cool against all of the chrome hardware. The powdecoated finishes on Normandy guitars are applied using a special "baked-on" finish that is electrostatically bonded to the guitar bodies. The resulting finish is extremely durable and far superior to the standard paint, stain, or varnish typically found on guitars. The Normandy maple-on-maple and rosewood-on-maple necks are shaped close to what you would find on an old-school jazz guitar - not too fat… not too thin. Will a basic tail piece affect the tuning of my guitar like a Bigsby will?
Obviously, I understand that a regular tail piece wont achieve any kind of vibrato effect but I really like the look of a bigsby on the Gibson 335/Epiphone Dot.
I heard that hthe vibratos can affect the tuning of your guitar (you will need to tune more often) so was wondering if a tail piece like this:
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Archtop_guitar_tailpieces/Thin_Body_Trapeze_Tailpiece.html
will do the same thing.
Thanks in advance.
That tailpiece is a solid anchor. It doesn't make any vibrato, it's just an alternative way to anchor your strings. You shouldn't have any tuning problems with it.
