Do I need a new acoustic guitar?
Hey guys, in February 2008 I bought my first steel stringed acoustic guitar. I love playing on it but my dreams have died because of the stupid G string on my guitar. It snaps everytime I put a new G in. I don't know what the problem is. The tuning keys seems fine- it seems as though I'm going to high when getting the note 'G' but I never get it and once I had the note G but tuned the string just the tiniest bit upto G# really slowly and it snapped. I don't know what the problem is. I think it might be the bridge as part of it is wearing away as the strings keep snapping.
If you want details on the guitar it is a 'Chantry' (I've never really heard of it but the model number is 3077)
It has a normal coloured laminated body with a black pickguard.
The strings that I bought were a 'Slinky Acoustic' which are made in the USA but I live in the UK.
Not sure if the extra details help or not 
Take the guitar in to the shop where you've been buying strings, and ask for help. If you're putting the right string on, the only reason for it to snap should be if the bridge is cutting through the string. It seems more likely that you are using the wrong string. Either way, the shop folks should be able to help.
