I have a classical guitar. I replaced the strings and the A string is buzzing. Why?
I have had this particular guitar for 4 years and I have never had any buzzing problems. It is not the frets. The action is not low on this guitar at all. The buzzing is coming from the bridge area only under the A string. There is a flat saddle? that fell out of the bridge, where the strings fit into tiny notches. I put it back in..I think that has something to do w/ it? What can I do to get rid of the buzzing? Is there something else wrong? I don't have anyone I can take this to. I have to figure it out on my own somehow, 'cause I work at the only music store around here, and our guitar techs are actually drummers and they don't know ANYTHING. Even less than me. I have no idea how they got hired. It takes them like over hour to change strings and they yell and swear while they're doing it. I'm scared to let them touch my guitar, because it was expensive. If anybody has any ideas on what might fix this problem, please help.
Probably, there was a 'shim' ( a thin strip of almost anything like paper or something similar ) under the bridge before you changed strings. When it fell out, unnoticed, you inserted the bridge without it, making the action a tiny bit lower and in turn causing the A string to 'buzz' when plucked.
