i plan on getting an acoustic guitar. i dont intend on playing in any shows with it. i just wanna be able to pplay at home and maybe jam with some friends. i also am not planning on taking lessons, im mainly going to try and teach myself or learn some stuff from friends. is this guitar too expensive for the ways i wanna use it? i do want a quality guitar that will sound good though. also is it really that bad to buy guitars offline? i really dont wanna go to a store. i found this website on the website of a local music store. so i figure it must be good. its musiciansfriend.com

Alvarez's are really nice guitars, and the one you picked out is a GREAT beginner/intermediate guitar.
I won't say to not buy the guitar online, however, I think you should still go to a store that carries this guitar, and a few other comparable guitars.....play them each, and bring one of your friends that plays with you.........once you definitely decide on the guitar you want, you can order it online. Just remember, any acoustic guitar that you buy online may not be "set up" the same way that the one in a music store was. It's usually worth the $30 or $40 to have the guitar properly set up, so it plays great and you get the most out of it.
Also, even though you are saying that you don't intend to play out....you MIGHT (and probably will) change your mind at some point....consider getting the electric/acoustic version of this guitar, that way, you're covered.
