dreadnought base
I am looking for a very well built intermediate guitar, what should I get?

I have been playing a friends guitar for a few weeks, and now I am ready to buy my own. I am a beginner, but the reason i said intermediate is because i want a very well built guitar that is a great guitar to start out with. should I go with an acoustic, or an acoustic-electric? I have a about a $350 budget, give or take some. here are some of the guitars i have looked at on the internet. Also, what classifies a guitar as Dreadnought? Please dont base your opinion off of what you play. I am just looking for the honest truth Thank you.

Jasmine by Takamine S34C NEX Cutaway Acoustic Guitar

Fender Classic Design Series CD-110ce Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Electric Guitar

Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric Guitar

Fender CD-60 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Yamaha FG730S Solid Top Acoustic Guitar

The Jasmine at $130 is hardly an intermediate guitar - it's squarely in the range of a beginner's guitar - but it would still be my choice. All the others are dreads and I've never been fond of that shape. Fender makes fine electric guitars but their acoustics are mediocre in my opinion. The Fender Standard Stratacoustic Acoustic-Electric guitar is a joke; why on earth would a solid body guitar shape work for an acoustic guitar?

>>Also, what classifies a guitar as Dreadnought?<<

A guitar is a dreadnought if it has basically the same shape as a Martin D series guitar. Martin invented the shape and the term. Dreads are know for a bass-heavy tone and a large size that many people fine uncomfortable to play for any length of time.
