Should I give up on bass guitar?
I bought a bass guitar about a year ago and I'm very bad at playing it. No matter how much i practice i always get off time no matter what. I don't know what the problem is but i think its my amp and bass. The frets are starting to stick out, the pickups are super weak, and the amp is a 15 watt fender rumble practice amp. The bass is a squier affinity p bass. I think its because it's so uncomfortable to play and because its so weak sounding that im unable to play in time. I am considering buying a new bass and amp but do not know what to choose. I am considering buying a kind of j bass this time but want to find something that is very strong and loud. I also need to find a better amp around 200 or under, a combo amp, because i do not have alot of space in my room. If not i was considering guitar because i have an acoustic guitar and nothings wrong with me playing it, its in time and everything.
uh.... dude, no offense or anything but a poor bass and amp do not effect your ability to keep time..... i'm somewhat of a bass player myself, and i have trouble keeping time too...... so let me just say the instrument and equipment are not the problem.... timing takes practice.. sit and listen to your favorite songs and count of the time..... remember time is more important than the actual melodies and notes. play a couple solid notes when your listening to your fave songs and keep the time that way..... im all for buying a new bass and amp, just so you can get a better quality of sound though.
