Whats the difference between a classic guitar and an acoustic guitar?
They look exactly the same i was just wondering if there is a difference? I'm thinking about buying one, i'm a beginner and cant actually play yet so what should i get?
If you talk to most experienced guitarists, the will tell you to start off with an acoustic, so that you "work in" playing on the strings. You'll find that out of acoustic, classic and electric, that acoustic is the toughest to press down on. It's a bit discouraging at first because of the calluses, but in time you'll find it extremely worth it.
Classical guitars will also limit you to what types of music you'll be able to play. Because they have nylon strings, they don't sound good when strummed the same way you would an electric or acoustic. Instead you would finger pick, or do more of a flamenco strum which can be viewed in the attached link.
Your best bet would be to find a cheap acoustic at a local music store, or even the ones that are found at the front of WalMart. This way you're not spending loads of money, when you might not even like it.
