What is the difference between an Acoustic guitar and an Acoustic-Electric guitar?
I want to buy an acoustic guitar and I found a guitar that is beautiful and it is in my price range and it has good reviews. I am a beginner so it is ok if it isn't the best guitar in the world. Anyways, here is the guitar if you want to see:

so anyways the only problem is that it is an acoustic-electric, not just an acoustic. I am not sure if there is a difference? will it sound different than a guitar that is only acoustic? is it possible to only play acoustic on it without ever playing electric? Also, if you know of anywhere else where i can buy a guitar that is just acoustic but looks like this, could u plz tell me? thanks!!! (my price range is about $150 and lower)

Soooo thats a cute lil guitar u found, but im willing to guess thats more than likely is a painted piece crap that will feel horrible in ur hands and play just is bad. I dont understand what ppl dont get about this, but guitar is a REAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENT NOT A TOY. You get what you pay for. So you cant really get a cheapo and expect it to be a quality guitar that will last you for a while when you begin to play w/ a newfound appreciation of what it means to be a guitarist and a musician. My 1st saxophone retailed at $450 b4 the recession, and it was a cheap one. The trumpet i played on retailed at 500-600, so do you have an understanding of the price gap. Lucky for you, you dont have to pay that much (the guitars popularity has led it to be priced in a different scale which is both good and bad). Yamaha features the perfect beginner pack, which i surely would have bought if i had started with acoustic over electric is the Yamaha Gigmaker Pack which ranges from 175-200 depending on what pack you choose and where you get it

Acoustic guitars are guitars that use not electronics to project and amply the vibrations of the strings by using complex sound physics to use the hollowness of the guitar to produce an audible sound through the soundhole of the guitar (thats why electric guitars are virtual silent when they are not plugged in). Acoustic-electric guitars combine the process used in non-electric acoustics, and by using a pre-amp which is more or less a built in mic so you can use an amplifier to amplify the string even more. Why do i say not to get an acoustic-electric, heres why:
pre-amps arent meant to be cheap. really what kinda of pre-amp are you going to get out of a cheapo $140?
guitars sound better w/ an aftermarket pre-amp
a non-electric acoustic compared to an acoustic-electric of that same price will usually be of superior quality
if ur learn, u really dont need to amp ur guitar. you wont be doing any gigs or major performance for a while, and if you do at a school usually they'll mic you which also sounds better than plugging in
Again buy smart, and dont waste your time and money. You were wise to ask for help in an area you are ignorant in, and now ur are more aware, at least i hope you pick somethin up or i wasted my and ur time, about buying a guitar. To be honest you really some have someone who plays guitar (and is experienced) help you shop and you should play them b4 you buy if at all possible or one thats a similar model. Dont buy on impulse, and be prepared for alot of work and studyin (yes you gotta learn some music theory, my friend, and this stuff aint no joke. most ppl quit cause its hard, but i find it really fun and appealing)
what makes a guitar good: sounds, projection, action (the space btw the strings and the fretboard), feel/playability, if its plugged in does it preserve or better the sound, and looks
