Lefty Guitar Help?
I'm a left handed guitar player and it is very difficult to find an affordable left handed guitar... Its hard to find left handed guitars period. Anways, Im new to learning guitar and im very dedicated to it. I really want to learn. I already have an electric guitar but it sucks. I also already have private lessons. ( Thats good right? ) Ive been saving up for a new guitar and I have $130.
I saw a Left Epiphone Les Paul Special II for $184 at guitarcenter.com ( $200 all together with tax )
And I saw a good Left Acoustic Guitar for $200. ( No tax ) at a local music store.
Ive always heard its better to start with an acoustic and im fine with that. But I want to learn to play Electric eventually.
Which one should I get if ive just started learning?
ok. first off, if you can't find a good lefty guitar you want, just by a right handed one and invert the way you string it, like, put the low E where you usually put the high E. Ask your teacher about it, he/she should know how to do this. thats what jimi hendrix did with his guitars. Anyways, you don't have to start out with an acustic guitar. They are usually tougher to play, the strings may be heavier or higher off the fret board. If you start acustic, it just may make it easier to play electric. About buying a new guitar; i would go with the epiphone, i'm a les paul guy myself, but those are more expensive than the epiphone series. If you do get an electric, don't forget about an amp! I like tube amps, you get a rich, full sound that you just can't duplicate with solid state, no matter how many watts they claim to have. One of my tube amps has 15 watts, but is louder than my friends 70 watt solid state.
