how to fix a crack my guitar finish?
ok i baught this ovation cs-247 guitar that is worth $800+ and i got it for $300 with a case. the only thing is that straight op the center of the base of the guitar is a crack in the finish (cant really see it easily) but is there a way to fix this without having the whole guitar refinished???? pleez only if you know it will work add a sudjestion. experience in doing it already would be great!!

Ovation makes a pretty tough guitar, a little crack will probably not get any worse if you are careful.
If you want to understand the process of crack repair get the Guitar players Repair Guide, written by Dan Earlywine. It will explain the process and give you an idea of how bad you want to fix it. Not a bad book to have around if you intend to play for a few years, it helps you understand intonation and electronics as well as fixing finish problems.
When you get a big list of things to fix then maybe you will get them all done at the same time, but a small crack usually doesn't affect the tone. So wait till you have so many guitars that you will not miss this one while it gets fixed.
