My EMG 81 doesnt fit my Squier. Please help?
The EMG 81 is supposed to replace my bridge pickup, but it doesn't fit there into the pickguard space. Im obviously gonna file away at the pickguard to make some extra room, but then again, theres no space for the battery inside the guitar, so I guess ill put it right next to the 5-way switch right above the wiring but this gets me thinking. Are these pickups compatible with my guitar? I havent seen any diagrams with Strat style configurations, not even the ones that came with EMG. only gibson diagrams! Please help, I need to know if EMG's are supposed to be put into a Strat Squier in the first place, and I don't know really what to solder what to wire wtf anything PLEASE HELP
It will not fit without major modifications (intrusive) to your guitar. Stick with what you have. Return the pickup and save up for a guitar that has those already installed - you can find them in relatively inexpensive ESPs and Ibanez models.
