is this a good road bicycle for a female beginner?

Beginner, as in no experience biking at all, except as a kid on a neon pink-and-green Huffy.
I want to start bicycling mainly for fitness and leisure. I am in my twenties, 5'1" and trying to get into shape for a Mexico trip this summer. I run a couple times a week, but I want to have something to do other than running. Is this a good choice/price for a first bike? And yes, I will try it in the store first, but what do you experienced bicyclists think?
Yes it is a great choice and not because I work for Performance at all. I own several GT bikes and can attest to their durability and performance overall. Any bike brand in this price range would do well for you no matter the name on it.
Edit: this bike is a medium that fits like a small in about a 48cm which might just be fine for the asker.....based on others I have fitted it to in the store....but I havent fit her... so?
