Cypress or Rosewood back and sides on acoustic guitar?
I'm soon going to buy my first classical guitar and the particular model I'm looking at has three options:
Solid Cedar top with Rosewood back and sides
Solid Spruce top with Rosewood back and sides, or
Solid Spruce top with Cypress back and sides
I think i'm going for the brighter sounding spruce top but now have no clue as to the differences between Cypress and Rosewood back and sides.
Unfortunately I dont really have anywhere local to try these so am kinda relying on other peoples opinions and knowledge.
I have always preferred rosewood just because of its beautiful nature. I am not sure about its acoustics, but a spruce top and a Rosewood body is a gorgeous sounding guitar. I would vote for the Solid Spruce with Rosewood.
