Guitar Buying Question!?
I'm looking into buying a guitar off of ebay. it says that its Dreadnought Style, and Select Spruce Top. What does select spruce top mean??? Thanks!!
and i know that spruce is a type of wood. I just dont understand the "select" in front of it.

The Select before the Spruce Top or whateve rwood is a choice premium wood, with tight grain, no flaws and used to make the harmony table of the guitar. That is what gives the tone. Same for the backs and sides. When you use top quality wood, that is what contributes to the sound projection whereas the tonal quality, is given by the guitar top and the quality of the rosette surrounding the sound holes.
Be careful that some nameless company can use that term and sell the guitar for $100 which is not the same quality of top. Their are different Select wood that can be graded from 1 to 10. OPn a brand name like Gibson, Martin etc.. the grade would be 10 compared to others which can only be a 5. Hope I didn't confuse you
