How do I replace my guitar string?
It's a Silvertone Electric Guitar. I was playing it a few minutes ago, and my sixth string snapped. How do i replace it? I have the extra strings.
Unscrew what's left of it from the tuning bolts. Pull the rest through the bottom (flip the guitar over and pull the little ball for that string and pull the string out that way.
Push the new string in the same way, up and over the bridge to the tuning bolt for that string - put it through the hole in the tuning bolt and twist until it's almost all in, but not quite - you want to get it so it has a couple of winds around the bolt with a little slack, then get a tuner and tune to the proper pitch. Cut the excess off with a wire snipper (leaving maybe 3/4").
