Is it easier to go from playing nylon string guitar to electric guitar? or is it the other way around?
I tried playing an electric guitar after just playing the nylon string guitar for a few months and i was terrible everything felt so tight and compressed. Do people that go from electric to nylon have trouble?
The electric guitar uses steel strings that are higher in tension than a nylon string. It takes many years of playing on a nylon string to build up callouses and dexterity. Playing a steel string acoustic is much harder as far as callouses and strength are concerned but you will develop both much faster. An electric guitar is somewhere in between the two. Not as hard as a steel string acoustic but harder than a nylon string in terms of string tension. If your goal is to play an electric than I would recommend starting on a steel string acoustic to quickly build up callouses and strength. If your goal is to play a nylon string then start with it.
