Taylor T5-S Electric/Acoustic guitar?
I love Taylor acoustics but I recently went to the Taylor website and saw this new T5-S electric/acoustic model. Does anyone have any experience with them is so what do you think? Also how does an electric/acoustic compare to just an acoustic sound wise do you loose something when you mix the two?

It's the real deal. Like the above poster said, it acts like an electric because it needs to be amplified to make any noise, but it sounds sweet.
It's acoustic sound is spot on. Remeber that Taylor is known for their quality acoustic guitars and they live up to their name with the T5. So when it's switched to Acoustic it will sound just like a Taylor Acoustic guitar. But it plays so easy because of the gauged strings that sit between an acoustic and electric.
The electric sound is impressive as well. Being that Taylor has not made electric guitars, this is a great way to enter the field. I played it with a nice 100 watt Marshall and head and it sounded like a sweet Gibson.
Line 6 came out with the first Variax before the T5, which could do Banjo, Acoustic, Electric guitar, Mandolin, etc. and it just sounded like simulated cheap sound. The T5 does both the electric and the acoustic justice.
There's a reason why the Variax is $600 and the T5 is at least $2200.
For being the first real guitar that can do both Electric and Acoustic, it's pretty dang impressive.
Although I don't know what you can call it, because acoustic-electric would just mean an acoustic that can be plugged in.
