looking for a similar digital piano to the acoustic yamaha p22.?
I can't afford to move my piano from fl to tn, so i was wondering if anyone familiar with this particular Yamaha model knew of a digital with similar touch and feel. i really don't want a digital, i'd love to get a beat up old p22, but i can't find one of those either. 3 or 4 levels of weighted kes are not enough for a classically trained pianist! 
I use the Yamaha P70. In my opinion it is superior to an upright piano. Most upright pianos have a horrible sound. I can hook my P70 into a Steinway Model D Concert Grand VST instrument. Try to get that sound out of Yamaha upright... with the VST instrument and the P70 we're talking about over $1,000 dollars, though.
But seriously... the P70 is a great instrument. It feels very close to a real piano. I have heard stories of performers who simply removed the guts of an old piano and installed one of these P70s into the instrument. The box naturally amplified the P70 and it felt/sounded like a real grand.
Consequently, the P70 is not at all cheaper than an upright. Let's face it... it's better than an upright in that you don't need to spend money to tune it. It's better in that you can practice whenever you want to with some headphones.
You might want to check and see if there are any used ones out there. These Yamaha stage pianos are very awesome instruments. A p22 is a fine instrument, don't get me wrong. I think if you can get one on the cheap then that investment will take you far. Still, you can now weigh the options based on what I have told you.
I might be a little biased in that I only practice on digital pianos now. The sound of most uprights is disgusting compared to my Steinway Model D Concert Grand samples.
And I do have an upright... it's a Baldwin. I never touch it anymore.
The samples on the P70 actually sound pretty good. I think they sampled a Yamaha grand. The sound is better than an upright. There is also a fun harpsichord and organ sound on there. I love playing some Bach on that harpsichord sound =).
I was playing Telemann fantasias on the harpsichord sound earlier.
